Remember the days when garages were actually used to park your car?  These days, it seems like garages are mostly used for “out of sight, out of mind” storage.  Here are a few tips to help get your garage space back:

Holiday Decorations 

Sure, holiday decorations hold a great deal of sentimental value.  It’s easy to hold on to your child’s first homemade ornament or a serving platter passed down for generations, but home decor and decorations older than a few years and without any sentimental value can be cleared out.  Think about what you’ll miss when you pull out your decorations for their once a year use and kick the rest to the curb! 

Sports Equipment 

Let’s get real.  Are you really working out at home?  Rather than have it take up space and collect dust in your garage, consider donating it.  Local recreation centers and schools are more than happy to take equipment. 

Electronics 

Unless your electronics are old enough to be considered “vintage,” it’s more than likely not going to make a comeback.  Items like VCRs, VHS tapes, 8-tracks, CDROMs, boomboxes, etc. all need to be disposed of properly. Take one more trip down memory lane and then stack them in a box for pick-up.
